Social Networking

Social media can’t explain how useful and helpful it is while thinking on this topic with lots of daily users. I consider social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Flicker provide an ideal outlet to engage a broad variety of society and maximise the libraries’ exposure, allowing them to promote services, collections, events, resources and easily facilitate communication with the client base.

These networks also function as platforms for sharing media, with specific applications in library services such as Flicker photo streams of historical photographs forming part of the Local Studies Collections. The library is the place is able to maintain an active existence in the community. This is especially useful because many members of the community cannot visit the library physically due to their time or physical condition. They can able to remain involved with current events and news.
